Nottingham is one of the closest major cities to our Burntwood base outside the immediate Midlands area — 45 miles via the A38 or the M1, which usually translates to 50 minutes without motorway holdups.
Nottingham moves are often student-related — the city has two major universities and one of the largest student populations in the UK. End of academic year moves from Nottingham back to Staffordshire or Birmingham are regular work for us, as are September move-ins in the other direction. Student moves from Nottingham City to Loughborough Road, the Meadows or Beeston are all familiar territory.
The city itself has a mix of tram-served inner areas, where parking and loading are manageable with early starts, and the outer suburbs — Arnold, Carlton, West Bridgford, Beeston — where access is considerably easier. West Bridgford in particular has become one of the most sought-after areas, with excellent schools and a strong property market.
Nottingham to Staffordshire moves are equally common — people leaving the city for the value and space of Lichfield, Cannock or Burntwood. The A38 keeps the journey predictable and we almost always use this route in preference to the motorway for moves under 60 miles.
