Birmingham is the UK's second city and one of the most active property markets in the country. Prices vary significantly depending on which direction you're moving — within the city, out to Staffordshire, in from elsewhere in the Midlands — and how much stuff you have.
We've moved hundreds of households into, out of and within Birmingham. These are the real price ranges based on what the work actually costs in 2025, not optimistic online calculator estimates.
Typical removal costs in Birmingham
These are starting-point estimates for moves within the Birmingham area. Distance, access, packing requirements and timing all affect the final price.
- Studio or one-bedroom flat: £200–£400 for a local Birmingham move. If you're coming in from Staffordshire or going out, add roughly £50–£100 depending on distance.
- Two-bedroom house or flat: £400–£650 for a local Birmingham move. A 2-bed in Selly Oak to a 2-bed in Moseley might be £420–£480 depending on access and parking. A 2-bed from Lichfield to Birmingham would be £500–£700.
- Three-bedroom house: £600–£950 for a local move. Three beds in Harborne to three beds in Kings Heath — probably £650–£750. Three beds from Burntwood to Birmingham would typically run £700–£900.
- Four-bedroom house: £850–£1,400 for a local move. The range is wider here because four-bed houses vary enormously in how much they actually contain.
What pushes the price up
Access. Birmingham city centre deliveries — apartments in the Jewellery Quarter, Broad Street corridor, the Mailbox — have restricted loading zones, permit requirements and sometimes chargeable loading bays. These add complexity and sometimes cost.
Stairs. A ground floor flat and a sixth-floor flat are different jobs even if they're the same size. More stairs equals more time equals more cost.
Parking restrictions. Parts of Edgbaston, Moseley and Kings Heath have residents parking schemes that create loading challenges during peak hours. Early morning starts work around these but can affect crew costs.
Packing service. If you want a full packing service the day before your move — we bring all the boxes and materials and pack everything — this adds typically £150–£400 depending on property size. It's worth it for many people who'd rather not spend two weeks packing themselves.
What you can do to keep costs reasonable
Declutter before you move. Every item you don't take with you reduces the volume, which directly reduces the crew time. A good sort-out in the weeks before moving can take a job from a two-van operation to one.
Book well in advance, especially if you're moving at the end of a month or on a Friday. These days fill earliest and last-minute availability can come with a premium, or simply not exist at all.
Be flexible on timing if you can. Tuesday and Wednesday moves are often cheaper and always less stressful than Friday ones.
📞 The most reliable way to get an accurate price is a conversation. Tell us the property sizes, the postcodes, any access complications and your timing — we can usually give a realistic range on the first call and a written quote within 24 hours.
Why our prices are what they are
We're based in Burntwood, which means our fuel costs to Birmingham are lower than a firm based in Coventry or Stoke. That keeps our prices competitive for Birmingham jobs without cutting corners on insurance, crew or equipment.
We don't offer the cheapest quote in every situation — there are one-man-band operators who will undercut us on simple jobs, and occasionally that's the right choice for straightforward work. For anything involving large properties, complex access, valuable items or tight timing, we'd rather be honest about what it costs to do the job properly.
